Debra Rose is an Eastern Medicine Practitioner, licensed in the state of Delaware, practicing acupuncture and massage therapy in Sussex County, Delaware for the past 27 years. She is a graduate of the Traditional Acupuncture Institute (now known as Maryland University of Integrative Health) with a master’s degree in Acupuncture. During my clinical training, I took acupuncture to women in a Baltimore jail and to heroin addicts in a Baltimore neighborhood community center. My background also includes teaching anatomy to students at Potomac Massage Training Institute in Washington, DC. and a 6-week massage course in the community. I also taught yoga at the Yoga Studio in Lewes, DE.
My first introduction to acupuncture was after a back injury as a young adult. The level of care and pain relief I experienced was life changing, not only on a physical level, but it also set the course for my life’s work. Although I had an undergraduate degree in psychology, I did not know what to do with it. Initially, I became a licensed Massage Therapist and started working in a multidisciplinary wellness center. There were several acupuncturists working there and I would refer my clients with difficult, chronic conditions to them. These clients experienced significant improvement in their conditions, once they received acupuncture. This really caught my attention and I wanted to learn more about this ancient medical system that has been in practice for about 3000 years.
Eventually, I went to graduate school and earned a master’s degree in acupuncture from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute (now known as Maryland University of Integrative Health). It has been a joy to be involved in holistic health for the past 30 years. More importantly, it has been so rewarding and a privilege to practice Chinese medicine, as I help patients regulate their body, mind and spirit back to balance, optimal health and a sense of wholeness using acupuncture, moxibustion, Gua Sha, massage, nutritional counseling and lifestyle coaching.
Being in Nature with my dog and family is a great love of mine. By observing the order and beauty of Nature, I am reminded of how these same patterns of Nature are present in individuals. When we live in sync with the seasonal rhythms of Nature, we have greater vitality and health. Acupuncture is aligned with the influences of the balance of Nature.
